Please note that details of dinners may change prior to June 10th.


1. Berry Delicious Blackberry Brunch
The day will start with picking copious wild blackberries at Pickering Creek Audubon Center.  We’ll then gather for a summer brunch featuring blackberry pancakes, blackberry wine and blackberry tea.  We’ll finish off the event with a delicious blackberry dessert.  It will be berry delicious.

2. Eastern Shore Summer Feast
Enjoy an intimate dinner around a table overlooking Don and Clay’s Koi ponds.  The evenings delectable menu will begin with lobster bisque, then proceed to Crab Imperial, “Not your Momma’s” Southern Succotash, various seasonal courses, and end with a Nashville Groom’s Cake.  Not to be missed!

3. Boating Picnic
Bring your family or friends for an evening on the Tred Avon River with Coard Benson aboard ‘Drifter’, a Custom Bay-built 46’ Markley finished as a Yacht Cruiser.  All the amenities of home are onboard to entertain your family and friends.  You can cruise up the river or step out to the bay, your cruise and your party.  Picnic fare and libations of your choice.  Party for 10 departing Bachelor Point at 4pm for a 4 hour tour

4. Wind Down at Rise Up
Join the folks at Rise Up Coffee after hours for a close-up look at how they source their coffee. Sample several different roasts and learn about the intricacies of each while learning about the roasting processes, their recent collaboration with Lyon Rum and their plans for the future.  Your tasting will be accompanied by a selection of elegant desserts that employ the Rise Up brews and Lyon Coffee Rum.  FYI the desserts will likely be Espresso Ice Cream, Doughnuts with chocolate coffee dipping sauce,  Lyon Rise Up Coffee Rum Tasting & a surprise!

5. Classic Crab Feast on Hope Creek
Grab your wooden mallet and enjoy the best of the Bay! Rick Scobey and Bruce Ragsdale are laying on a traditional crab feast with all the fixings -- crabs straight from the steamer, corn and tomatoes from a nearby farm, coleslaw, potato salad, chips, and lots of beer. Wear your jeans, catch up with friends, and enjoy the views of Hope Creek, as you crack open some jimmies. And for those who lose stamina --there will also be hot dogs and hamburgers to tide them over!

7. Kayak and Appetizers
Eight eager kayakers will enjoy a serene kayak adventure on the Tred Avon River.  Starting at historic Old Bloomfield, built in 1692, we will venture up the river and explore the scenic shoreline with talented guide and outdoorsman Dirck Bartlett.  Beverages and appetizers will be provided as will kayaks, lifejackets and other gear.

8. Bowl Turning & Lunch With Beatty
Spend an afternoon with Scott Beatty, Master Bowl Turner to learn about the different species of woods, sources for wood and equipment, wood turning tools, lathes, and techniques of the wood turning craft. Participants will have the opportunity to watch a master craftsman at work, ask questions and learn valuable techniques. Immediately following the demonstration, join Scott and his wife Nancy for a casual lunch and brief tour of Nancy’s extensive gardens at their waterfront property in Royal Oak.

10. Dinner and Tour of Historic Spocott in Cambridge, MD
Hosts Jackie and George Radcliffe will lead you on a tour of Spocott, since 1663 the family estate located on Gary’s Creek on the Little Choptank River, 5.5 miles west of Cambridge.  The 350 year-old house has been recently renovated but the original structure itself remains.  It was the home of a US Senator and provided inspiration for James Michener in writing Chesapeake.  The house is full of memorabilia.  In addition, George Radcliffe has painstakingly researched his family history, based in no small part on letters left behind by a family that seems to have never thrown away much of anything.  He will regale you with stories from the past, reaching from colonial days to the War of 1812 and relationships with past U.S. Presidents.  This personal tour will be followed by a traditional Eastern Shore dinner prepared especially for you on site.

11. Palladian Architecture and Dinner at Wye House
Enjoy a fantastic dinner at historic Wye House, built in c.1790 and often described as the best example of Palladian architecture in the mid-Atlantic. The current owner, Richard Tilghman is the 11th generation Lloyd family descendant. Richard’s talk will describe the 16th Century villas in the Veneto designed by Andrea Palladio, the father of modern architecture and you’ll get a peak at the English version of Palladio's famous "Four Books," which dates to the mid-18th Century.

12. How Bones Talk
As an exciting prelude to Halloween, jojn Chip and Sally Akridge at Harleigh for an exploration of one of the earliest European gravesites in America.  The exploration will be followed by an excellent firelight dinner at Harleigh hall. Prizes will be awarded for great costumes!

14. Passo and Falco: Falconry and Horse Demonstration with Lunch
We’ll meet at Emory Farm in the morning for coffee and a presentation in the farm’s historic Granary about the history and methods of training Falcons and Hawks. Next it is outside to enjoy seeing one of the raptors fly under Jonathan’s command.  Then off to a delightful lunch at the farms small indoor arena with a demonstration of the Paso Fino War Horse that the Spanish conquistadors used.

15. Pickering Creek Paddle and Gourmet Lunch at the New Peterson Woods
Join Audubon naturalists as we launch from Pickering Creek’s main campus for a delightful morning paddle along the shore of Pickering Creek. We’ll be on the lookout for ospreys, eagles, kingfishers and more as we enjoy a delightful spring morning on the Creek.  We’ll come ashore at Peterson Woods where we’ll enjoy a delightful lunch catered by Garden and Garnish.  Afterwards you’ll have the option to paddle back to the main campus or take it easy and take a van ride back.
